Description
Vintage late 1960s, early 1970s era acrylic on Masonite painting by Wisconsin artist Beth Carroll Martineau. A dynamic composition consisting of neutral yet striking tones of browns, black and golds. This powerful image consists of three geometrically stylized birds soaring upward in a bursting diagonal trajectory. Elements of pop-art and op-art are exhibited in this piece with it’s simplified application of color and play on positive and negative space. Beautifully framed in a dark wood with ochre trim. Signed by the lower left hand corner with the artist’s initials “BCM”. There is also a label on the back reading “Beth Carroll Martineau, Sky Studios, Palmyra, Wisconsin”. The label also includes the zip code and artist’s phone number.
