Pair of authentic mid century modern Wassily chairs by Marcel Breuer. Imported by Stendig, made in Italy by Gavina. Both chairs feature original butterscotch colored leather strapping. Chrome is outstanding condition. These Stendig Breuer chairs are the original mass production license to reach the states. In fact, the Wassily chairs featured in MOMA’s permanent collection are Stendigs. Knoll acquired the Wassily chair license after 1968 when Knoll purchased Gavina. The iconic B3 or “Wassily chair” was designed in the 1920s by Marcel Breuer and named after his friend, artist Wassily Kandinsky.
