Description
Irresistibly verdant foliage painting by Florida artist, Virginia Brundage. Flowing lines mimic vines. Undulating green forms evoke thoughts of the jungle. While the image is abstract, it certainly seems to be a close up view of lush foliage. The refreshing blue background gives us glimpses of the sky. Passages of lavender, pink, and a bit of ochre bring depth to the botanical melange. Helen Virginia Brundage (1911-2008) was born in Buffalo, New York and relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida in the 1950s. Brundage’s work blossomed during her time in St. Petersburg where she was an active member of the Morean Arts Center. Over the decades she participated and won many awards in local art shows. Brundage’s Florida surrounds certainly inspired this painting with it’s subtle pops of tropical colors. The piece dates from the later 20th century (1970s likely). It is signed, but not dated, painted on canvas and housed in a metal frame.
This painting can be hung horizontally or vertically. The artist’s signature position suggest its should be hung vertically, but it looks just as good horizontal.
40.25” Wide x 1.5” Deep x 32.25” High
Condition: Vintage painting, no damage to the art. The metal frame may have some minor scuffs or scratches.
