Description
Remarkable set of four Mid-Century Modern Brazilian hardwood dining chairs. Handmade in Brazil, circa 1960s, out of exotic Brazilian hardwood. The set includes two armchairs and two arm-less chairs. It’s difficult to convey the quality construction of these chairs without seeing them in person. The hardwood density combined with the precise joinery makes these chairs solid as a rock. They appear airy, but weight quite a bit. The design is clearly modern with a twist of traditional Colonial or Shaker inspiration.
These Brazilian hardwood dining chairs were paired and purchased with a Giuseppe Scapinelli dining table. This is not only an indication of age, but also of possible designer pedigree. We actually know very little about these chairs. They are completely unmarked.
