Description
We purchased these Edward Wormley slipper chairs from the original estate and can say without hesitation that you won’t find a more pristine pair anywhere. The Florida waterfront home was a veritable living catalog for high end designer furniture. Please look close at our photos when comparing your options. These magnificent chairs have been redone in a mid-mod appropriate, red / black weave fabric that contrasts perfectly against the honey colored frames. Re-done by our in-house upholsterer with 30 years of experience. All new padding on both seats and backs. The tufting pattern perfectly matches the original layout. A touch of Far East inspired design synergizes harmoniously with modern elegance. Scandinavian lines with the quality and craftsmanship from one of the most lauded Mid-Century Modern furniture makers. Sculpted form and graceful curves from top to bottom. The subtle Eastern inspiration adds just enough flair without crossing over to full on Asian-Modern. Subtlety is the clear philosophy here. Just like a Hollywood starlet, these slipper chairs have a gorgeous profile. Every time we walk past these creations, we notice something new. There isn’t a single straight line anywhere on these chairs. Every inch is the result of design intervention.
The mahogany bases look outstanding and have also been masterfully and subtly restored. The key to any restoration is making improvements without making it look as though anything has been done. This set now looks like a museum installation but yet our price is in-step with similar offerings in lower grade conditions.
