“Fjord Life” vintage Danish area rug by Ege Axminster. The 6×9 carpet depicts elements of traditional life along Denmark’s famous Fjords. Agrarian and seafaring, it is no surprise to see oxen, sailing ships, foul and horse back riders. Scandinavian men and women of the Fjords are also pictured. Lovely neutral tones of beige, brown, and sage green are elevated with a gentle blush mauve color along the perimeter. in Denmark. Measures 6′ x 9′. One hundred percent new wool pile. Clean with no stains or notable wear. Look closely so see instances of sky blue in the gentlemen’s pants and on the boats. The carpet is outstanding original condition with no stains or wear. The jute and Polypropylene backing is all intact. Crafted from 100% new wool. New wool is sheared from live sheep and has never been woven before. The plush axminster weave features a half inch thick pile.
Ege Carpets was founded by Mads Eg Damgaard in 1938 in Herning, Denmark. In the years to come, the production took place in a small building with only one tufting loom. Mads Eg Damgaard was visionary.
His philosophy was uncompromising: he used only the latest and most advanced technology in carpet production and he was not afraid to challenge convention. His philosophy still survives at Ege Carpets.
