Description
Rare opportunity to buy a Gerald Thurston wishbone lamp with the original period shade. The Thurston Wishbone lamp has become an iconic lamp of the Mid-Century Modern movement. The American made lamp features an elegant split fork “Wishbone” motif at the neck. The body is an elegantly turned solid beam of walnut. The base is a gleaming brass square that seems to flow from the body. The Wishbone portion is a metallic chrome color with a gold-ish tint, while the base has as strong gold tone. The lamp features the original shade and finial. These components are just as distinctive as the lamp itself. The finial is a small brass cylinder with blunt top, very unique. The perforated metal diffuser distinguishes the lamp’s unique original shade. These lamp shades are very difficult to come by! Lamp shades are delicate and few survive over half a century later like this has. Our shade has been painted white to ameliorate some wear it garnered over the years. This lamp has three bulb heads. It’s a three way lamp. Use one, two, or all three lights at once.
