Description
Large scale Mid-Century Modern floral still life housed in gilded frame. The vintage painting dates from the 1950s-1960s. Typically we see earth tones from this period and style of art. Deep crimson red and canary yellow hues ignite this painting. The bountiful bouquet has red, yellow, and orange hued flowers emerging from a cylindrical vase. The flowers are rendered in a rich impasto with sections of thick, modeled paint. The background is just as interesting. The background is a field of deep brown with dry brushed burnt orange and ochre highlights. The gilded frame is just as spectacular as the painting. In fact, this frame is much more fanciful than we typically see on paintings of similar context. The frame is gold leafed with carved wood elements and black trim. The canvas is signed in lower right and measures about 44″ square.
