Description
Mid Century Modern fiberglass shell chair by Lawrence Peabody for Selig. Similar to the chairs made famous by Eames for Herman Miller. Lawrence’s rendition features wrought iron hairpin legs shock mounted to the fiberglass chassis. Wing back shape is Lawrence’s Hallmark. It’s a marriage of the old and the new. Traditional influenced form with a 20th century material and approach. A perfect example of American atomic age design. This piece displays adventurous aspirations and technological advances that made post-war America so exciting. This chair is often mis-attributed to Luther Conover.
