Description
This listing includes both the desk and chair.
Collectors know that it is difficult to find original Heywood in good condition. The desk top has been refinished to match original specs in Heywood Wakefield wheat. This sleek, study, understated and classic writing desk embraces a transition from art deco design to mid-mod minimalism. These sculpted drawer pulls add a touch of aeronautic flare to an otherwise pragmatic desk. A perfectly executed concept that remains timeless to this day. Architecturally designed and assembled with no visible hardware. The top drawer spans the width of the desk and includes removable dividers. The bottom left “file-drawer” is extra deep and designed to actually look like two drawers for esthetics.
The “Cat’s Eye” dining chair features a distinctive inverted double-bow back rest. This arched motif resembles the shape of a cat’s eye, hence the nickname. This chair has been worked by our restoration team to remove years of wear. The seat has been updated with new upholstery. The fabric choice speaks to the period. The earth tone fabric lies somewhere between burnt orange and brown with subtle golden highlights. The neutral fabric compliments the wheat finish on the wood. All solid wood, American made… timeless quality that keep’s collectors coming back to Heywood Wakefield.
