Description
Made by A. Mikael Laursen in Denmark, circa late 1960s-early 1970s. Not your typical dainty Scandinavian Modern loveseat sofa. This hefty brute won’t creek, wobble or bow under the weight of your guests or ask you to compromise quality and comfort for good looks either. Handsome, stately and still elegant in design. Dozens of thick teak strips are staved (butt-joined) together to created the stunning panels that make up the architecture and style that frames this sofa. This loveseat has been delicately restored to outstanding condition.
Remarkably, this couch is even more comfortable than it looks. Nestle into the deep, down filled cushions as you caress the soft, supple leather. Impeccably crafted and beautifully designed. The original, aged, light-cognac leather has been professionally re-colored and top-coat sealed to match the original tone. A minimal, tasteful touch of decorative leather stitch-work on the cushions, parallel the other subtle charms that define this exception sofa. It’s re-assuring to know that this leather has lasted for nearly half a century and still looks amazing. We’re confident it can do another fifty years standing on it’s head. The padded seat decking conceals heavy duty metal springs and the back cushions are supported by a nylon canvas sling that spans between the arm panels. All elements are rigid and function like-new.
