Description
Pair of Modeline 635 model designed by Arthur Jacobs. The original advertisement describes these lamps as having a Japanese influence. One can see the similarities of Jacobs design with common Japanese aesthetics. His cylinder shape with sheer white shade seems to borrow from Japanese rice paper veiled lanterns. The flares at the top of the lamps spires resemble the pointed tips of Japanese roofs. Modeline has succeeded in interpreting Eastern elements into a Modern, Western sensibility. The results are stunning, beautifully sculpted walnut wood encasing an ethereal cream colored shade, trimmed in gold. The lamps exude a peaceful ambiance through the warmth of the light and materials, along with a perfectly harmonious design. These particular lamps are in remarkably fine condition! We seldom find these lamps with shades in such great condition. The walnut wood and metallic surfaces are tip-top. We would rate these as time capsule condition.
