Description
Vintage 1980 Bijan brass bonsai tree wall sculpture. The piece bears the maker’s mark and date at the base. Exceptional quality, the sculpture looks as if it was formed from molten brass that flowed freely and cooled slowly like lava. The brilliant gold metal gleams like freshly polished chrome. The molten feel comes from the fact that there are no sharp edges. The sculpture has rounded, organic shapes as if it was sculpted by water or wind. The organic essence is further enhanced by the staggered, layered strata of the tree leaves. When viewing from the side, one can see that the tree canopy is actually formed by different layered groups of leaves, arranged at varying sizes and depths.
