Description
Set of four beautifully restored Mid-Century Modern “tulip chairs” by Burke. These elegant, Space Age dining chairs have become one of the most iconic chair designs in history. Eero Saarinen first designed his Pedestal Collection (Tulip series) for Knoll in the 1950s. His innovative, pedestal base was meant to solve the “slum of legs” as Saarinen put it. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery… well, Mr. Saarinen ought to be awfully flattered. Our chairs are vintage 1970s copy-cat tulip chairs by Burke. These Burke chairs rival Saarinen in form and quality. The Burkes are also fiberglass shells on metal tulip bases. These Burke chairs also rotate 360 degrees. One of the biggest distinction from Saarinen’s design is the base itself. Burke’s have a four-point base while Saarinen’s base is a circle. Our chairs have been restored with new high quality red vinyl. This vinyl features a pebble pattern that looks just like high quality leather. The original metal chair bases have new white enamel paint (matching original spec). Pair these chairs with your favorite dining table to create an iconic 20th Century dining arrangement.
This listing is for the chairs alone. The dining table pictured is sold separately. Inquired if you are interested in the dining table.
