Description
Exquisite mid-century modern torpedo shaped lamp by Tye of California. There are so many things that make this lamp special! First, we absolutely love the lively aqua blue and white color scheme. Typically, earth tones are dominant during this period. The cerulean blue is simply refreshing. Tye of California is celebrated for their novel atomic age designs. The glazed lamp is hand painted and even features superficial carving to create highlights along the decorative surface. Splashes of teal paint create a pleasing texture in the glaze. The painted design almost has a Japanese feel to it. The botanical form appears as a black twig of sorts, with orange and white branches. The lamp is signed and dated at the base “Tye of California, 1957.” Fins at bottom and top reminiscent of classic cars of the same vintage. Manufactured in their studio in the Los Angeles area, these lamps have become a favorite among mid-century modern collectors. Perhaps you’ve seen them on Antiques Roadshow. This original lamp has been updated with a newer cord.
Lamp shade is NOT included with purchase.
