Ahead of it’s time, this piece easily conforms with contemporary aesthetic, despite it’s being designed in the mid 1950s. In similar form to Van Der Rohe’s Barcelona chair. This 3-seat full size couch features the original leather strap supports and brown vinyl upholstery. Straps are tight and intact. Button tufted and pleated, with the stark contrast of the dark cushions against the gleaming chrome frame. The materials speak to the movement toward industrial modern machine age while maintaining finesse. Thut’s early work rarely comes to market. This sofa in particular is a rare piece… with no record of coming to the American market in the past 15 years.
