Description
Butterscotch is the best way to describe this unmistakably 70’s colored velvet. There’s something about the delicate combination of sexy, sinuous and sleazy that draws the eyes in to the deep tufts of these chrome flanked scoop chairs. Designed with both style and comfort in mind, the Daystrom scoop chair brings the ruckus to any room they stand guard in. The contoured comfort makes these perfect for long dinner evenings and elegant enough on their own as a side chairs. The chair seats are shaped like a scoop. The seat height is 18.5″ at the front edge of the curve. The cradle wear your bottom rests is 16″ seat height.
Daystrom began in 1934 as an ashtray manufacturing company located in Olean, NY. By 1938 the company evolved to create chrome dinette sets and upholstered pieces. In 1962 Daystrom moved to South Boston where they pioneered the art of making inexpensive, stylish, durable furniture. Daystrom’s furniture crafted from raw materials and using in-house designers were a hit with the flourishing house-proud American middle class. Ted Van Benschoten served as the company’s Design Director for until Daystrom’s close in 1996. Benschoten oversaw product development from sketch to production and marketing, guiding a team of independent designers as well as crafting his own creations. Daystrom was a brand accessible to families who desired the latest trends. Their hallmark durability has stood the test of time with many vintage pieces still holding up remarkably well over so many decades! It is no wonder why this familiar brand still holds a warm place in the hearts of those who have already lived it. Benschoten’s Avant Garde designs still hold up as fresh and evocative despite being nearly fifty years old.
