Description
Art Deco, Hollywood Regency and Mid-Century Modern design elements have combined to create what is arguably the most sublime gilt metal patio dinette set ever. Gilt gold and black glam of this caliber transcends trends. Steeped in mystery, we have no idea who designed this deco modern patio dinette or what country it originated from. At first glance, it looks Italian and perhaps inspired by or custom made by Salterini circa 1950s but without any markings it’s only a guess.
Don’t let the dainty elegance fool you. These sturdy welded metal chairs are heavy and capable of supporting even the most Rubenesque of house guests. The feet are capped with the original molded plastic caps. Only two were missing and have been replaced with reasonable facsimiles.
Our restoration team collaborated to bring this deco modern patio dinette to like-new condition. In addition to a fresh coat of flax gold paint and simi-gloss clear coat, we also replaced the glass top and upholstered the seats. Even before our in-house master upholsterer did his handwork, we replaced all the wood seat bottoms. The new seats were tailored to match the originals exactly. We went with a handsome, commercial grade black vinyl that compliments the gilt metal frames beautifully. Glass top has a slight copper tint.
