1970s fiber art wall hanging attributed to Frank S. Lane of Ozark, Arkansas. The carpet sections are masterfully sewed together to create a stunning “Tree of Life” inspired design. Birds fly onward, symbolizing hope and adventure. The woven rug material is densely piled and features strands of different lengths. The tree and horizon puff out, giving dimension to the wall hanging. The background is light brown, the birds beige, the tree looks black but is actually dark green. The textile art is mounted to a plywood back. The piece has a metal wire on the back for easy hanging.

About Tree of Life:
The tree of life is a widespread myth or archetype in the world’s mythologies, related to the concept of sacred tree more generally, and hence in religious and philosophical tradition.
The expression tree of life was used as a metaphor for the phylogenetic tree of common descent in the evolutionary sense in a famous passage by Charles Darwin (1872).
