Description
Johannes Andersen for Uldum Møbelfabrik Model-19 credenza restored to excellent condition. This stunning mid-century sideboard is a mix of solid teak and teak veneer over hardwood. Captivating from every direction and completely finished on the back with teak. There’s no press-board or composite material here. These early Scandinavian credenzas are becoming more difficult to source, making this piece all the more special. The teakwood exhibits that oh so desirable deep amber hue garnered only from decades of natural aging. This sideboard is a perfect marriage of design and function, featuring exquisite craftsmanship and lots of storage. Slide the tambour doors open to reveal three large storage cabinets, two with adjustable / removable shelves, and another with felt-lined, pull-out drawers. Shut the doors all the way to conceal everything or achieve another look by leaving the doors partially open around the center drawers. Flanked on both side by hinged cabinet doors that mimic the same stunning sculpted-lip pulls featured on the tambour.
The construction quality on this piece is exceptional. There’s virtually no bowing or sagging after all the these decades. The tambour doors move easily and close shut without any gaps. The dovetail joined, smooth-open drawers are also the hallmarks of steadfast design. This unique credenza came to us in already excellent condition but our restoration team still spent many hours mitigating the minor imperfections. We’re certain you find a more sublime representation of this sideboard anywhere.
We also have the original, sliding-glass door hutch top section available.
