Stunning large scale Mid-Century Modern tree grove landscape painting. The lovely brown, beige and burnt orange painting features a grove stand at dusk. Concentric wrings of white at the center of the composition imply a setting sun or rising moon. The artist brilliantly elicits a sense of depth with the darker, larger brown trees at front fading to smaller burnt orange trees as they ease into the distance. The ground is layered, textured strokes of browns and cream colors kissed with periwinkle and raspberry pink hues. This lower area has elevated areas of impasto, adding a richness to the painting. The piece is oil paint on stretched canvas, housed in a dark wood frame inlaid with gold trim. There is a wire on the back for easy mounting. The painting is lightweight, no trouble hanging it up. The artwork is signed “Williams” in the lower left corner.
