Description
Vintage 1950’s Lyby Mobler teak China hutch cabinet. This is a two-piece unit with the top hutch featuring sliding glass doors and adjustable height/removable shelves. The lower cabinet section deck has four drawers with solid teak pulls that span the width of each drawer.
We see hundreds of Danish pieces a year and we can spot quality. The construction on this piece is exceptional. There’s no press-board or composite. Both top and bottom are a mix of solid pine core, teak veneer and solid teak. The drawers are expertly assembled with dovetail joinery and slide in and out with ease. Every line, angle and joint is straight as an arrow. Finished on the back with teak veneer. The etched pull glass doors look like new.
This early Scandinavian hutch has matured over many decades and the teak now has a rich, amber/red tone that almost looks like rosewood.
Condition & restoration:
Outstanding overall condition. Our in-house cabinet shop did an outstanding job refinishing the top of the lower “dresser” section. Professionally cleaned, detailed and oil finished top to bottom.
