Description
Set of 6 Mario Bellini for Cassina Cab 413 dining chairs. Upholstered in what appears to be their “China Red” leather, the chairs belong to the celebrated Cab 413 model, one of Bellini’s most influential designs from the 1970s. The Cab series was groundbreaking in its construction: a steel skeleton wrapped in thick, saddle‑stitched leather that zips around the frame like a tailored garment. Bellini often described the design as “a chair dressed in leather,” and that sense of craftsmanship is immediately felt in the weight, structure, and tactile quality of each piece.
20″ Wide x 19 1/8″ Deep x 32″ High
25″ Arm Height
17.5″ Seat Height
The Cab 413 is the armchair version of the series, offering a slightly more generous and architectural silhouette than the side‑chair models. Cassina produced the line using traditional leather‑working techniques, and the result is a chair that ages beautifully, developing character and softness over time. This particular group of six shows the warm patina and depth of color that make vintage Cab chairs so desirable, while still retaining the clean, sculptural lines that define Bellini’s work.
As a complete set, these chairs bring both design pedigree and inviting comfort to a dining space. They embody the essence of Italian modernism—functional, expressive, and crafted with an attention to materiality that has made the Cab series one of Cassina’s most enduring designs.
Condition: Very good original condition. The chairs present well. Close inspection will show some minor scratches and flaws on seats and backs. One chair has small repair nicks on the tip of the arm.
