Description
We’re certain you won’t find a more sublime pair of these anywhere. You’d be lucky to find just one. Our restoration team cleaned, conditioned and re-colored the original leather. The amber brown cognac leather perfectly complements the multiplex beech wood frames. We also reversed many worn buttons on the up-faceing side with nicer version from underneath the cushion. The leather straps were also cleaned and conditioned to stave off cracking down the road. Finally, the frames were tightened and detailed top to bottom.
Believe it or not, these are even more comfortable than they look. The “Skandi” chair by Arne Norell is not just a exhibition in brilliant design, it’s a womb of cradled comfort. The attached pillows can be flipped, and slung over the back of the chair if desired. Adjust to the strap tension to your body’s preference and sink into bliss. This will become your new favorite reading chair. Circa 1969-1970. Made in Sweden.
26″ Wide x 38.25″ Deep x 30″ High (15″ seat height)
About the designer:
Arne Norell started his own workshop in 1954 in the town of Solna, Sweden. Thereafter he moved to Småland and established his own company Möbel AB Arne Norell – today known as ‘Norell Furniture’ (or ‘Norell Möbel AB’ in Swedish). He was known for his versatile use of wood, leather, fabric, and metal in furniture characterized by comfort and ease. Arne Norell was a household name within the interior design-world of Europe. Several models were also produced in other parts of the world under a license. He was to a great extent inspired by Danish design. One example of this influence is the safari chair ‘Sirocco’. Another of his designs is the lounge chair ‘Ari’. It was awarded the British Furniture Manufacturer’s greatest award “showpiece of the year” in 1973. Many of the models he designed came into production after his death in 1971. His designs are still in production today.
