Description
These Tommi Parzinger chairs exude dignified glamour in this sultry blue velvet material. We purchased this set from a decorator who spent thousands on this Kravet fabric and re-upholstery, only to have the project fall through. And that’s when FMV stepped in. Not only have we done further restoration to the original walnut frames, but we’re offering them to you at trade-discount.
Neo-classical blends with mid-century modern. Subtlety and discipline conspire to demonstrate the quintessential Parzinger look. Parzinger’s works were characterized as “high-style modernism” which represented a “more idiosyncratic, rarefied mid-century design.” Parzinger’s cosmopolitan designs often referenced styles from around the world and involved costly, labor-intensive materials and processes. The tied-spring seat supports are one example of the superb quality. The fit and finish are unmatched. We love the slightly curved backs with walnut spires that flank the upholstery.
The FMV restoration team spent countless hours restoring the original walnut frames. We maintained a balance by improving the overall look without the the harsh stripping and heavy sanding that can often sacrifice charm and character. The FMV team mitigated most of the serious imperfections and gently refinished the frames with new coats of toner and lacquer finish. The end result complements the fabric and looks great.
The underside pic showing the springs has been recovered in blackbottom. All chairs have upholstery blackbottoms.
