Glazed and hand painted ceramic lamp by Tye of California. The vintage 1950s lamp has a classical design, deviating from the modern trend. A series of horses circle the lamp along the base. The style of the horses and figures have an ancient Etruscan aesthetic. The glaze has an antiqued feel achieved through elaborate textures and painting techniques. The equestrian theme is rendered in periwinkle blue, dijon yellow, and rests against a ground of moss green. Tye of California specialized in elegant decorative lamps in the 1950s. The lamps have since become a favorite among collectors. Light is diffused with an ethereal glow through the capiz shell lamp shade.
