Description
Vintage 1969 Abstract Expressionist painting signed, “Nakamura.” The large oil painting straddles Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting with influences by Cy Twombly and Franz Kline. The bold, emotion laden black swirl of a stroke takes center stage. This element immediately is akin to Kline’s signature aesthetic. The dark mass releases streams of drips, that make their way across a field of red. Nakamura tempers the heaviness at center with areas of green, violet and gold. The red paint flows Eastward creating sinuous lines reminiscent of Cy Twombly’s kinetic compositions. The painting is oil on canvas, stretched over a wood frame, signed and dated on the back side. The black frame is new and made of solid wood. This painting was acquired from an estate in Princeton, New Jersey.
We have two more Nakamura paintings. One green and black, another red and gold ochre, inquire if you are interested in a group of these paintings.
