Description
Vintage 1969 Abstract Expressionist color field painting signed, “Nakamura.” The large oil painting straddles Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting. The bold brush strokes become individually ambiguous as Nakamura repeatedly layers them to create a large mass of black. The criss-crossed black strokes creates a web across bodies of green and gold ochre. Bright green and subtle gold colors break through the darkness, like ambitious foliage and rich earth making their way through the jungle’s depths. The painting is oil on canvas, stretched over a wood frame, signed on the back side. The black frame is new and made of solid wood. This painting was acquired from an estate in Princeton, New Jersey.
