Description
Stunningly sublime winter landscape painting by German artist, Ludwig August Heydendahl. The oil on canvas painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner. Heydendahl was born in Germany in 1876 and died in 1960. This piece is likely an early 20th Century work. The placid gray landscape of winter is beautifully captured. Look closely to see two figures make their way down a rural road past a pair of homes. While the landscape looks cold, the snow capped houses with respirating chimneys remind us of the coziness of winter. This piece is housed in a vintage, ornate gilt frame — likely the original frame.
